Dear all,
Well the start day is drawing near and we our now in the midst of final
preparation.
Measuring is going on over the next few days so we are pretty busy.
The Opening Ceremony was an awesome experience for all of us.
The sailing team with 30 people was the largest section of the Singapore contingent marching and we were all very happy. Great to have Roy carry theflag for the Nation.
The Qatari's put on a great job in preparing for this and the display was
sensational.
The big screen is the biggest we have ever seen. Takes up the entire side of
the stadium.
We were standing quite close to the centre and had a very good view of the horse and rider rising from the center of the field and then gallop up the stairs carrying the torch. It is very steep.
It was a rainy night (which is pretty unusual for the desert). I think we brought the rain from Singapore because it has already rained 4 days since we have been here which is about their entire yearly average.
Fortunately the rain stopped during the ceremony although we got a bit damp afterwards - but hey we are sailors so what's new !
The wind today is very good and we are having our final hit out before tomorrows practice race.
All is extremely good with the team and we are fit and ready !
Thanks for all your support.
I will be in touch soon.
Regards,
Andrew J Sanders
