Hi all,
Greetings from a fine and sunny Doha.
Well racing is underway and we have just completed our second day of competition.
Winds have been very light. Sub 5 knots and it has been difficult to get the scheduled races completed with a lot of races being abandoned through missing the time limit.
A lot of waiting around and unfortunately the sun sets very early here – around 4.50 pm so it is difficult to complete the races in the afternoon.
Even with the tough conditions the Singapore sailors are sailing very well, and spirits in the team are very high.
Today is Sean’s birthday and we greeted him with a team birthday cheer this morning.
Match Racing is officially underway today and the boys are happy to get back out there.
All is really good with the team and everyone getting on really well.
Uncle Peter, Aunty Serena, Aunty Suzzie and Brother Pei Ming are keeping us all in top shape.
Last night in the Games Village dining hall Scrawny Seany was the man of the moment.
When as a sailing team we began singing happy birthday we were astounded to find all the adjoining tables began to sing and it rapidly spread until a ¼ of the dining hall were all in the throws of singing happy birthday to Seany.
This is a dining hall that seats 4000 people – wow !!!
Funny to have the Macau Syncronized Swimming Team, the Japanese Athletics Team, the Iranian Basketball team, the Chinese Baseball team and miscellaneous athletes from all over Asia in harmony with “Happy Birthday to Scrawny”.
Update you soon,
Cheers
Regards,
Andrew J Sanders
