Dear all
Well, the start date is drawing nearer and we are putting the finishing touches on our preparation.
Today we had very nice conditions for training out on the bay. Nice wind and nice waves – fun!
Measuring is in a few days time and all the boats are now in top shape.
The windsurfing boys did a practice race yesterday and did pretty well against the top Thai and Indonesian sailors.
Our full team is now here including our Singapore Sports Council support staff. We now have well over 40 people; our biggest team ever.
Everyone is very healthy and very happy.
The boys have been having fun with their linked-up gaming systems. Looks like we are training for the cyber Olympics.
And if you see some of the boys with ink on their arms in any of the photos, don’t worry – their tattoos are fake, haha. Shhhhhhh.
The most entertaining thing yesterday was Ivan falling in the water fully clothed. Toppling over in slow motion much to the great humour of all. Fernando’s description of the “big splash” was just as funny being a one hundred mile per hour combination of English and Spanish. He is definitely a high speed communicator (broadband).
Ivan has been inducted into the Super Hero League. He has been christened “P” man – for the dirty job he undertakes every morning. He has a large range of super powers but unfortunately none of them include balance.
Quintin has revealed his past – he was a gladiator in South Africa. A TV game show where big guys beat each other up with cushions. Having the surname of Roman is fairly appropriate for a Gladiator. Anyway he is a great asset to the team because whenever we have a problem (like tourists making too much noise in the corridors) he fixes it. No one seems to argue for some reason.
So all is good and we are raring to go.
So till next time.
Best regards and thanks for your support.
Cheers
Andrew
