SEA Games - Report from Pattaya
8 December 2007

Dear all

Over the last couple of days we were doing registration and measurement.

Everything went pretty well. Our only hiccup over the last few days is when the coach boat tied to the jetty, did it’s impersonation of Titanic. Well, there are no icebergs in the marina at this time of year in Thailand so we are still a bit perplexed by it’s impersonation. Anyway, it spawned plenty of jokes from the team – like that the coach can get closer to the racing if he travels underneath the race course. Unfortunately, we forgot to pack the scuba gear (haha).

We also had a return to good breezes for the past few days and the guys have been having plenty of fun on the water in the wind and the waves.

Yesterday was practice race and we got a good 15-18 knots.

All our sailors performed very well in the conditions.

After sailing we got ready for the SEA Games sailing opening ceremony, at the Ocean Marina, which was short and sharp. Everyone had a good time and there is great atmosphere in the team.

Today sees the start of competition proper and maybe a change of the weather cycle, back to the lighter winds we saw last week.

All are really fired up and ready to go.

Thank you for your wishes and support.

Best regards
Andrew
