Gold for Singapore in the U15 category at iQFOiL 2025 Asian Championships

🥇GOLD FOR SINGAPORE IN THE 2025 iQFOiL YOUTH AND JUNIOR ASIANS 🇸🇬 Congratulations to Jonas Knick for coming out top in the U15 category at the 2025 iQFOiL and iQFOiL Youth & Junior Asian Championships and iQFOiL International Games.  After a week of racing with the U17 fleet in Shenzhen, Jonas finished 1st out of 14 sailors in the U15 category and overall 14th out of 35 sailors in the U17 category.

🇸🇬 SINGAPORE FINISHES FOURTH IN 2025 FORMULA KITE YOUTH WORLDS 🌎 Max Maeder went into the Medal Series having qualified directly after four days of strong results that put him just one point behind Italy’s Riccardo Pianosi. But Max’s chances took a hit at the start of the four-man final race. In a dramatic start, the 19-year-old was left struggling in a wind-hole while the other three surged forward.  Needing just one win to seal the title, Pianosi took the lead and never looked back.

Singapore dominates at Optimist Asian and Oceanian Championship with 1-3 finish

🏆 DOMINATING 1-3 FINISH IN ASIA TEAM RACING CATEGORY FOR SINGAPORE 🇸🇬 Our junior sailors defended their Team Racing gold and bronze medals at the 2025 Optimist Asian and Oceanian Championship in Oman, with Thailand getting the silver. En route to the podium, our sailors beat teams from China, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand. We would also like to give a shout-out to the parents and supporters who flew over to cheer on our sailors 🙏🏽

⛵️ Sails up, hearts full 💚 Over the weekend, past and present sailors from Tanjong Katong Girls' School came back to where it all began. The reunion was organised by our Athletes’ Commission Chair, Cheryl Teo, a TKGS alumna. “Forming a boat chain out in the sea between races… chatting about anything under the sun (literally!)—that’s when I fell in love with sailing and made more friends,” said Cheryl.

🏆 🏅 TRIPLE GOLD AT MUSSANAH RACE WEEK FOR SINGAPORE 🇸🇬 Congratulations to our sailors for sweeping all the gold medals in the Optimist division at the Mussanah Race Week in Oman. After four days of racing, our junior sailors emerged as champions in three categories: Optimist Team, Optimist Junior, and Optimist Girls Overall. This strong result is a boost for our sailors competing in the Optimist Asian & Oceanian Championship, which starts on 25 October 2025.

Faces of Sailing — Shahrom Taha

At just three months old, Shahrom Taha's children experienced their first taste of saltwater.  "We have this tradition of actually putting our newborns to sea," explained Shahrom, who is a descendant of the Orang Laut (which means “people of the sea” in Malay).  Singapore’s community of Orang Laut were a nomadic maritime group that lived on boats and in coastal settlements around the waters of Singapore.

Congratulations to our 2025 SNSC Champions!

⛵️CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SNSC CHAMPIONS 🇸🇬 The 2025 Singapore National Sailing Championships wrapped up on the final day with heavy rain and winds from the south to southwest. Our sailors faced wind speeds that varied widely, ranging from 3 to 13 knots. In the ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 categories, Ian Goh and Kenan Tan defended their respective titles. For Kenan, this meant that he has now qualified to represent Singapore at the 2025 Youth Sailing World Championships.

U19 Bronze for Singapore’s Jonathan Chan at the T293+ World Championships 2025

🥉 SINGAPORE CLINCHES U19 BRONZE IN TECHNO 293+ WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 🇸🇬 Congratulations to Jonathan Chan for finishing third at the 2025 Techno 293Plus World Championships! “I feel very proud to achieve bronze in U19, I’ve worked really hard with my coach for this event, and it paid off,” said Jonathan. “I didn’t expect to podium in this event, but it’s a great surprise.” Jonathan placed ninth overall in the open category and clinched bronze in the U19 category.
