Coaching Philosophy:

I coach because sailing has profoundly impacted my life, teaching me invaluable skills such as composure under pressure, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and resilience. Beyond these practical skills, sailing has offered me a sense of freedom that I believe everyone should experience. It is this personal connection to the sport that motivates me to share its lessons with others.

At the core of my coaching approach are two foundational values: Commitment and Integrity. I am committed to providing my sailors with my utmost effort and dedication to their development, ensuring that I offer them the best possible guidance and support. Integrity guides my actions, ensuring I not only comply with the rules of sailing but also respect the spirit behind those rules. I aim to foster an environment where fairness, respect, and sportsmanship thrive.

My coaching objectives are centered on the holistic development of my sailors, considering their biopsychosocial growth. I strive to create environments where they can thrive and develop, not only as sailors but also as individuals. For me, athletic success isn’t only about winning regattas—though that is an important aspect. True success is found in the satisfaction that comes from deliberate hard work and dedication to developing one's craft, in earning the respect of peers and competitors alike, and in the sense of accomplishment that follows years of growth.

The experiences I wish for my sailors to have are grounded in self-development. I want them to enjoy the journey of becoming the best version of themselves, both in sailing and in life. To achieve this, I am committed to putting the sailor at the center of my coaching practice, recognising them as individuals first and sailors second. By prioritising their needs and development as whole people, I believe we can create a meaningful and lasting impact through the sport of sailing.
